Access Control

Shopify access control is a system that allows store owners to manage user access to their Shopify account and store. The access control system provides different levels of permissions to users, depending on their role and responsibilities in the store. The different levels of permissions grant users varying degrees of access to the store's features and content.

There are five default roles in Shopify access control, each with different permissions:

  1. Owner: This role has the highest level of access and is typically the person who set up the store. Owners can manage all aspects of the store, including adding and removing staff, editing the store's design and settings, and managing payments and orders.

  2. Staff Manager: This role can manage staff accounts and their permissions, but cannot make any major changes to the store's settings or design.

  3. Staff Account: This role can perform specific tasks within the store, such as fulfilling orders, managing inventory, or viewing customer information. Their level of access is determined by the permissions granted to them by the Staff Manager or Owner.

  4. Limited Staff Account: This role has a more limited set of permissions and can only perform specific tasks within the store, such as fulfilling orders or managing inventory. They cannot view customer information or make any changes to the store's settings or design.

  5. Reports Only: This role has the lowest level of access and can only view reports and analytics within the store. They cannot perform any other tasks within the store.

In addition to these default roles, Shopify allows store owners to create custom roles with specific permissions. This can be useful for granting users access to specific features or content without giving them full administrative access.

Overall, Shopify access control provides a flexible and powerful system for managing user access to a store. The different levels of permissions allow store owners to control who has access to specific features and content, and custom roles can be created to suit specific needs. This can help to keep the store secure and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information.
